Neuromodulation by iTBS and 10Hz rTMS Compared in Healthy and Depressed Adults

Background: Intermittent Theta Burst Stimulation (iTBS) is an alternative form of excitatory, sub-threshold, repetitive TMS (rTMS) used to induce neuronal plasticity. iTBS has recently been determined as “non-inferior” to conventional 10Hz rTMS in the treatment of medication-resistant major depressive disorder (MDD), though direct neurophysiological evidence comparing the neuromodulatory effects of iTBS and 10Hz is lacking.
