Abstract
In this paper, a ratio estimator is proposed for path sampling, which is a cost-effective sampling design for spatial population where population paths are created and sampled. The efficiencies of the ratio estimator and the former unbiased estimator for path sampling are compared by simulation study, where the result shows that the ratio estimator is more efficient than the existing unbiased estimator in path sampling.
