Abstract

•A new type of highly efficient ACF anode coated with PANI and TiO2 was prepared.•PANI/ACF anode passivation during phenol degradation was solved via dual coating.•Phenol removal capacity of TiO2/ACF anode was obviously improved by dual coating.•Working stability of dual-coated ACF anode was enhanced during phenol degradation.•New mechanism for synergistic electrocatalysis of PANI/TiO2/ACF was proposed.
