Natural Oscillations of a Polariton Condensate in a Ring.

We have observed oscillations of a polariton condensate in a quasi-one-dimensional ring geometry that correspond to the natural frequency of a rigid pendulum. By comparing the oscillations in energy and density, we conclude that excitons have also traveled with the polaritons around the ring. We also show how the oscillations provide tighter constraints on the direct measurement of the polariton-polariton interaction strength, which is an important parameter for theories of nonlinear optics with polariton systems.
