摘要
•Food consumption management was found to be crucial in food waste reduction.•Households with better food consumption management have a less food waste.•First time food waste was quantified at household level in Iran and was found that every consumer wastes 27.6 kg of edible food annually.•A novel approach to explore relationships between the food-related behavior of urban households and waste control was provided.
