Abstract
Understanding radio channel path characteristics such as path loss and delay spread is crucial for determining the coverage and for planning interference reduction strategies in indoor wireless communication systems. Ray tracing with uniform theory of diffraction is widely applied to a site-specified radio propagation estimation for wireless applications. It is therefore useful to evaluate the channel propagation properties of millimeter wave within an indoor environment. This paper studies the effects for both line of sight and non line of sight conditions with the influence of the antenna on indoor signal propagation at 28 GHz. The effects of different antenna type and beam pointing has the most significant effect on the received electric field strength and will provide insight in wireless radio system design.
