Measurement of strains induced on a three-bottom moldboard plough under load and comparisons with finite element simulations

•The strain gages were bounded at different locations on the plough.•The reduced thickness of the moldboard frame did not exceed allowable stresses.•Finite Element Method was used to simulate strains induced on a plough.•A close agreement between the measured and simulated strains was found.
