Sparse representation based on parametric impulsive dictionary design for bearing fault diagnosis

•A novel bearing fault diagnosis method based on parametric impulsive dictionary design is proposed.•The correlation stopping is introduced in the orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm.•The method is validated by simulations and practical tests and is superior to the traditional methods.
