•A series of experiments are conducted by considering fire spreading between vehicles in a longitudinally ventilated tunnel.•The vehicular obstacle ignition time delay is analyzed with different ventilation velocity and vehicle distance.•The temperature profile near ignited vehicle and along tunnel centerline is investigated.•A mathematical model for maximum temperature is proposed by considering ignited vehicle and ventilation.
