Coupling Effects in Three Parallel Waveguides

Coupling effects in waveguides have attracted much attention of researchers in electromagnetism and optics, where they are widely employed in controlling and steering optical waves. Nevertheless, coupling effects in acoustic-cladded waveguides have received scant reporting. In this paper, we examine the coupling effects in three parallel acoustic waveguides. Using the finite-difference time-domain method, three input modes are simulated and analyzed. The instantaneous acoustic pressure distributions in the structures are demonstrated, and the effective pressure against propagation distance was calculated and plotted. The relationship between coupling length and input mode is analyzed.
