摘要
In this paper we present a generic dual traveling wave representation of energy transients in power lines from a quantum perspective. Although the dual-wave representation is also derived based on re-investigation of the Maxwells equations, it is constructed based on a quantum interpretation instead of the classic one. Interpretation from the quantum perspective allows us to develop a new wave representation for modeling the propagation of energy transients from the well-known Telegrapher Equations-based traveling wave models. The differences are: 1) the new representation is a dual-wave representation comparing to the single traveling wave representation currently used, 2) the new representation separates the movement of dipoles of solid matter from the electric conduction current which is a statistically aggregated state of movements of dipoles, 3) the new representation carries additional information about the change of electric field on energy movement which is missing in the existing one, 4) the new representation could not only be as effective as the existing traveling wave method, it may be more inclusive with a broader applicability for essential power system protection and smart relay problems that haven't been well addressed.
