Abstract
•Near-field spectral properties of the stacked gold nanostructures are studied.•A method for controlling plasmon dephasing time by plasmonic coupling is proposed.•The dark plasmon mode shows a longer dephasing time compared with the bright mode.•The elongation of the dephasing time leads to the strong near-field enhancement.
