Abstract
This study analyzes the real-time measurement of concrete strength regarding its operational and economic potentials for the construction of reinforced concrete ceilings. As example project a ten-storey high-rise building is analyzed. As a first step the application of the real-time measurement methodology for the building executed as disk construction was examined. It can be seen that the ratio of ceiling stripping times to production times for vertical structure elements has a relevant influence on the overall construction time, wherefore the project is furthermore analyzed as skeleton construction. For the disk construction the measurement of the concrete strengths offers the possibility to set the concrete quality in relation to production times for walls as well as to halve the amount of ceiling formwork elements and thus to save costs. However, for the disk construction the methodology does not offer the possibility of construction time reduction, due to the fact that formwork stripping times do not affect the critical path of the construction process. However, involving real-time measurement of concrete properties into the design of the structure enables the adjustment of ceiling stripping times according to production times for vertical support elements. Thus, for the skeleton construction in addition to the reduced amount of required ceiling formwork elements a reduction of the total construction time can be achieved.
