Novel Spark Plug For Microwave Ignition

Herein, we propose a novel coaxial resonator for microwave ignition with a resonant frequency of 2.45 GHz. Our simulation results show that it can generate an electric field intensity of 1.9 x 10(6) V/m at an input power of 1 W. For an input power of 150 W, the electric field intensity at the top of the internal conductor could possibly reach 2.34 x 10(7) V/m, which is sufficient to allow an automobile engine to excite a plasma flame at air pressures of up to 1 x 10(6) Pa. Our experimental findings show that this spark plug can achieve stable ignition for combustion under air at an input power of 90W.
