Interaction and involvement of cellular adhesion molecules in the pathogenesis of Schistosomiasis mansoni

•In Schistosomiasis mansoni the eggs in the liver triggers the recruitment of immune cells.•Leukocyes increase the expression of cellular adhesion molecules (CAM) for their recruiment.•The immune reaction against the egg originates granuloma and the pathology.•Expression of CAM promotes the inflammatory response and disease progression.•Review the findings of CAM expression during schistosomiasis.
