Censored Bayesian models for genetic evaluation of age at first calving in Brazilian Brahman cattle

•Age at first calving (AFC) is referred as censored trait due to missing records from non-occurrence and/or delay of calving communication.•Different methods have been proposed to deal with censored traits in genetic evaluations.•Studies on AFC data in Brahman cattle are scarce, and there are no reports comparing methods to treat censored records for this trait.•The traditional mixed model based on uncensored records outperformed the censored methods in terms of predictive ability via cross-validation analysis.
