Heterogeneous Fenton reaction for the treatment of ACE in residual waters of pharmacological origin using Fe-SBA-15 nanocomposites

•SBA-15 were synthetized by Fe direct incorporation from different precursors.•Synthesized materials were tested for the Fenton reaction.•The catalyst with ferric sulphate showed the highest acetaminophen degradation.•Optimal operating conditions for the process were achieved.•Heterogeneous Fenton process appears as a promising pre-treatment for wastewater.
