Using daily data from seasonal forecasts in dynamic crop models for yield prediction: A case study for rice in Nepal’s Terai

•Daily fields from SPSs might serve as an alternative to the Weather Generator.•Daily data from CFSv2 were used into the CERES-RICE for rice yield prediction.•Ensemble average of simulated-yield did not improve predictive skill.•The CFSv2 forecasts do not properly capture the statistics of observed weather.
