摘要

•The capability of DualSPHysics to reproduce violent wave impacts is assessed.•The efficiency and reliability of DualSPHysics are compared with a meshbased model.•DualSPHysics and IHFOAM show a similar performance.•Meshless methods attain the level of maturity to be used for engineering purposes.•The combined use of both kind of models overcome the limitations of each approach.
