Abstract
•Tobacco-stem activated carbons (TACs) were prepared by ZnCl2 chemical activation.•The preparation conditions were optimized by surface response methodology.•TAC21 owns the SBET of 1893.6 m2/g and the water vapor adsorption of 563.4 mg/g.•Water vapor adsorption-desorption isotherms of TAC18 and TAC21 were carried out.•TACs possessed an excellent reversibility of water vapor adsorption.
