Abstract
•Glycyrrhizic acid and Glycyrrhetinic acid ameliorate the abnormal status of liver cirrhosis.•Only Glycyrrhizic acid down-regulates the TLR4 and LBP gene expressions, which related to intestinal flora disorder.•Glycyrrhizic acid significantly restores the composition of Lactobacillus.•The bioavailability of Glycyrrhizic acid was probably influenced by microbiome dysbiosis.
