摘要
The simultaneous switching noise (SSN) and the electro-magnetic interference (EMI) of single-ended signaling are avoided by the proposed balanced single-ended signaling (BASES) technique. The BASES allows a wire to have three voltage levels and ensures constant current through power supply, meaning no SSN. The common-mode level of all the wires is always constant, resulting in reduced EMI level. With the BASES, the number of wires required for a given data bandwidth halves from that with the conventional differential signaling scheme. Depending on the applications, there can be several ways to map data to symbol satisfying the requirements of the BASES. This paper describes four types of coding schemes for the BASES.
