Identity Displacements In Three "Neighborhoods" Of Official Promotion In Madrid. Between Post-Traditionalization And Aging

This article analyzes identity displacements in three neighborhoods: La Colonia de Tercio and Terol (TYT), El Poblado Dirigido de Fuencarral (PDF) and Palomeras Sureste (PAL). All of them have registered an important change in their identity, whose understanding is based on the notions of post-traditionalization of Giddens (1993a, 1993b, 1999, 2001) or detraditionalization of Heelas, Lash and Morris (1996). It is also pointed out that in PDF and PAL this change is accompanied by the centrality of "aging", which, however, occupies a much more relegated position in TYT. The methodology used is comparative and eminently qualitative, and also includes census data for 2001 and 2011.
