Objectives: Comparison of the medical personnel-patient views upon assessing hypertension management. Methods: Pharmacoepidemiological studies - in qualitative design, medical personnel and hypertensive patients Sampling --389 doctors and 308 patients at a national scale SURVEY INSTRUMENTS: • Questionnaire for doctors • Questionnaire for patients Results: § The principal cause of unsatisfactory arterial hypertension control in the country ü Patient's unawareness – according to doctors ü Ineffective treatment - according to the patient § Primary task ü Patient's education – according to doctors ü Improving the doctor's skills - according to the patient § What determines the antihypertensive treatment efficacy ü Adequately selected medicine – according to doctors ü Trust toward the doctor and his/her authority – according to the patient § Interruption in treatment – the most frequent case ü Financial problems – according to doctors ü Psychological factor, negative attitude toward long-term treatment– according to the patient Conclusion: Lack of the doctor-patient communication is the major focus for intervention, because the patient-doctor's unified position is key to the hypertension control improvement.
