Comparison And Analysis Of Blood Pressure Measurement Between Septum And Conventional Arm In Electrocardiogram Monitoring

Objectives: To compare the difference of blood pressure measured between septum and conventional stick arm in electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring. Methods: One hundred and thirty patients with primary hypertension hospitalized in our department from October 2016 to April 2017 were included. These patients were all in ECG monitoring, and were divided into the stick arm group (n = 65) and the septum group (n = 65) randomly.The blood pressure of the patients in different time periods were monitored during ECG monitoring in the two groups. Results: Firstly, after ECG monitoring two minutes, compared with stick arm group, the systolic blood pressure (SBP) of patients in septum group was higher (129.23 ± 5.23 VS 122.74 ± 6.44mmHg), and the diastolic blood pressure (DBP) of patients in septum group were also significantly higher (75.76 ± 2.29 VS 74.93 ± 6.13 mmHg), with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Secondly, after ten minutes, compared with stick arm group, SBP of patients in septum group was higher (124.10 ± 3.88 VS 123.24 ± 3.16 mmHg), and DBP of patients in septum group were also significantly higher (80.66 ± 6.21 VS 74.26 ± 4.15 mmHg), with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Last, after thirty minutes, compared with stick arm group, SBP of patients in septum group was higher (132.86 ± 5.13 VS 129.55 ± 5.23 mmHg), and DBP of patients in septum group were also significantly higher (81.34 ± 7.35 VS 76.19 ± 4.56 mmHg). The blood pressure levels after ECG monitoring thirty minutes of patients in the stick arm group and the septum group were all higher than those in other time periods. Conclusion: The level of blood pressure measured by septum group were significant higher than that measured by stick arm. And the measurement of septum can not replace stick arm
