Resilience of southern Yukon boreal forests to spruce beetle outbreaks

•High-latitude forests face increasing tests of their resilience to altered disturbance regimes.•Stands sampled in Yukon boreal forests are recovering from intensified bark beetle outbreaks.•Many canopy trees survived the last outbreak and advance regeneration is abundant.•Spruce continues to establish and growth has increased substantially.•Boreal forest of southwest Yukon appear resilient to the last beetle outbreak.
