First measurements of Jupiter’s zonal winds with visible imaging spectroscopy

•We describe the first attempt to measure Jupiter's zonal winds with Doppler imaging spectroscopy in the visible domain•Observations were performed with a new concept of imaging spectrograph dedicated to measuring atmospheric dynamics•Zonal wind profiles of Jupiter, obtained in 2015 and 2016, are compared with wind profiles from cloud-tacking observations•Both profiles are compatible with the cloud-tracking, except in a small band at the north of the equatorial belt•We show that Doppler velocities can be measured with sufficient precision to put in evidence the zonal winds on Jupiter
