The Study of the Present Situation and Problems Related to the Drug Safety Monitoring Acted by Pharmacists of Hospitals Under the New Medical Reform in China—Based on the Result of in-Depth Interview

To discuss the present situation and problems related to the drug safety monitoring acted by pharmacists of hospitals under the new medical reform in China, which to provide reference for improving the level of using drugs in a safe and raditional way by investigating and researching. The research based on the literature analysis and semi-structured in-depth interview. Researchers conducted a field survey of 10 medical institutions in GuiZhou Province,China.We interviewed 28 people,such as managers in charge of pharmacy in hospitals,directors of pharmacy and so on. There is a big difference in the efficiency of the discipline implementation and monitoring among different hospitals. On the whole, high-ranking hospitals are more likely to establish sound system. The research mainly contain 6 problems existing in the drug safety monitoring system in hospitals. First, lacking of sufficient professional staff; Second, the incomplete information system and lowly efficiency of monitoring; Third, the disparity between the determination and decomposition in task index and the actual clinic; Forth, the reward and punishment system does not have a significant incentive for staff; Fifth, the emphasis given by leaders and managers of department is overweighed; Sixth, lacking of more active adaptability to new medical reform policies. hospitals should take the following measures into consideration: First, expanding the team of pharmacists and improving the level of practice and service. Second, strengthening the construction of information system. Third, establishing a more scientific task index for the adverse drug reaction reports. Forth, having a more comprehensive reward and punishment system. Fifth, the object that the drug safety monitoring training should include the leaders in hospitals. Sixth, organizing the workers in pharmacy to acquire a further studying and taking the initiative measures to adapt the new medical reform by learning from the advanced experience of other developed areas.
