Kienböck’s disease: Role of cross-sectional imaging in treatment choice and patient follow-up

•Kienböck’s disease corresponds to osteonecrosis of the lunate and leads to wrist degenerative joint disease in the absence of treatment.•Better understanding of its physiopathology allows to explore its different facets with cross-sectional imaging.•These provide essential diagnostic evidence concerning respectively the viability of the lunate, its structure and the cartilage status in wrist joints.•This information is essential for the choice of the most appropriate treatment option and post-treatment follow-up.
