Sulfur extrusion and sulfur oxidation of 2,2′-dithiodibenzoic acid in combination with Cu(II) ion and in the absence of co-ligands: Structural, spectroscopic and thermogravimetric evidence

Two Cu(II) coordination polymers have been prepared, and their structures have been characterized by IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The 2,2′-dithiodibenzoic acid suffers extrusion of one sulfur atom and S-oxidation of another S-atom forming the 2,2′-thiodibenzoate, and unprecedented 2,2′-sulfinatodibenzoate anions.
