Abstract

•Rh-Cp′/Aerosil (system A) or Rh-Cp′/TEOS (system B) forms very active catalysts.•Both systems are very robust (TON = 1.0 × 105, system A and 2.0 × 104, system B).•Spectroscopy and microscopy data suggest a molecular nature for catalysts.•NMR indicate equilibria between tetra-hapto-Cp′-Rh species and penta-hapto ones.
