摘要
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an important health problem characterized by poor health outcomes and high family and patients’ costs. More than 50% of patients with CKD have some emotional disorders not related to an organic dysfunction. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 49 patients with CKD using the Hamilton Scales for Anxiety and Beck Hopelessness Scale. The results showed that 89.8% of the patients presented hopelessness in some degree as well as 97.9% of them presented anxiety. A positive and significant association was found between full scores of anxiety and hopelessness (r = 0.31, p < 0.05). It is necessary to implement intervention strategies aiming to generate a better psychological support to the emotional situation of patients with this disease.
