Silica-nanocomposites of photo-crosslinkable poly(urethane)s based on poly(ε-caprolactone) and coumarin

•Nanocomposites based on fumed nano-silica and polyurethanes (PUs) were developed.•Strong interaction between nano-silica and PU matrices were observed by FTIR.•Photo-crosslinking process on nanocomposites was tailored by nano-silica inclusion.•Mechanical and thermal properties of nanocomposites were significantly improved.•Reversible photo-crosslinked materials with enhanced characteristics were achieved.
