Abstract
Lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS) provide a larger lumen diameter for endoscopic drainage of walled-off pancreatic necrosis (WOPN). For this reason, endoscopic drainage alone may resolve WOPN and necrosectomy may not always be needed. An endoscopic “step-up approach” of drainage followed by necrosectomy only if needed has been proposed. However, performing necrosectomy on a scheduled basis may result in fewer WOPN-related hospital admissions and earlier necrosis resolution.
