Excellent Outcomes After Heart Transplantation in Stable, Highly Sensitized Heart Transplant Recipients Using a Wait and Match Strategy
Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation(2017)
Abstract
Sensitized patients in need of heart transplantation (Tx) generally wait longer for a compatible donor and have a higher risk of waitlist and post-transplant mortality. With ongoing discussions about a new allocation system, there is considerable debate whether sensitized patients should receive priority listing. Our goal was to describe the post-Tx outcomes in stable highly-sensitized patients using a wait and match approach in a contemporary cohort.
