•We present first-time estimation of the meridional wind in both hemispheres on Venus.•Wind measurements from VEx/VIRTIS coordinated with Ground-based Doppler velocimetry results.•Spatial and temporal variability of the zonal flow with latitude and local time.•Confirmation of the coherence, and complementarity, in cloud-tracked and Doppler winds results.•We show a summary of coordinated CFHT/ESPaDOnS and VEx/VIRTIS simultaneous observations.
