Research progress of retinal ischemia reperfusion injury and cytokines

Retinal ischemia reperfusion (RIR) injury is a complicated physiopathologic process, which is mediated by many factors such as free radicals,inflammatory cytokines,leukocytes and so on. There is a close relation between RIR injure and cytokines. On the one hand, RIR may induce the expression of many inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin 1, interleukin 6;on the other hand, many kinds of exogenous neurotrophic factors, such as basic fibroblast growth factor,recombinant human hepatocyte growth factor and brain derived neurotrophic factor, have been shown to protect RIR injury. It is of great value to research the relation between them. So we report the newly progress of foreign researchs about the RIR injury and cytokines.
