The prevalence of alcohol and psychotropic drugs in fatalities of road-traffic accidents in Jordan during 2008–2014

•Road traffic accident is an alarming problem and the second-leading cause of death in Jordan.•There is a strong association between Alcohol and psychotropic drugs and accident involvement.•The presence of drug and/or alcohol, and was relatively the highest among Pedestrians.•The young drivers are more commonly vulnerable to road traffic accident involvement.•Physicians should concentrate their advice for drivers and other patients about psychotropic drugs
