Abstract
Two new Cu( II) complexes, [ Cu-2( bpe) 2( tbph) 2] n ( 1) and {[ Cu( bpe) 1.5( Hmph) 2]center dot (HO)-O-2} n ( 2), where bpe = 1,2- bi( 4- pyridyl) ethene, H2tbph D 4- tert- butyl- phthalic acid, and H2mph D 4- methyl- phthalic acid, have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, and single-crystal X- ray diffraction. Complex 1 has a uninodal 4- connected 3D zst net with a ( 65.8) topology, while complex 2 has a [ Cu2( bpe) 3( Hmph) 4] unit, and the units are linked by hydrogen bonds O- H center dot center dot N to form a 1D chain. Such 1D chains are further linked by hydrogen bonds O- H center dot center dot center dot O to generate a 3D supramolecular architecture. The thermal behavior of the two corresponding complexes has briefly been investigated.
