Genetic factors associated with the predisposition to late onset Alzheimer's disease.

•APOE4 allele, MTHFR CCA1298C and BDNF TTC270T genotypes were significantly higher in LOAD patients.•MTHFR 1298C allele increased risk of AD 1.5 times compared to controls. The presence of APOE4 allele increased risk of AD 4.4 times.•BDNF 270T allele increased risk of AD 2.2 times. Having BDNF TTC270T genotype decreases age of onset of LOAD about approximately 4 years.•Having MTHFR TTC677T genotype decreases age of onset of LOAD about approximately 5 years. Having FVR2 RRH1299R genotype decreases age of onset of LOAD about approximately 8 years (below 60 years old).
