Assessment of Natural Radioactivity in Soils around the Proposed Uranium Mining Site of Lambapur – Peddagattu and Seripally, India
Journal of the Geological Society of India(2019)
Abstract
The aim of the present study was to find the natural radioactivity in surface soils at different locations of the uranium-rich mineralized zones of Lambapur-Peddagattu and Seripally areas in Telangana state, India. The mean activity concentration of 238 U, 234 Th, and 40 K in the soil found to be 48.07 ± 22.30, 230.77 ± 89.26 and 807.08 ± 255.87 Bq.kg” 1 respectively. The gamma absorbed dose and the annual effective dose in surface soil estimated from the obtained results. The annual effective dose found to be comparable with similar studies in India and the other regions of the world (UNSCEAR, 2000).
