Abstract
•Subacute Mn contributes to oxidative/metabolic impairment, metal deposition and morphological lesion in peripheral organs.•Mainly impairment was observed in kidney and liver after subacute Mn intoxication.•Oxidative and metabolic impairment affects both male and female adult Wistar rats, although in the different manner.•Overall male rats showed more intense deleterious effect in peripheral organs.
