Abstract
ObjectivesTo evaluate image‐based quality assessment of first trimester anatomical scanning, similar to that used in mid‐trimester anomaly screening; and to determine clinical feasibility and reproducibility of its use.MethodsSeven first‐trimester anatomical image views were assessed: fetal head (axial), orbits (axial or coronal), 4 chamber view of the heart, spine (sagittal), abdominal wall with cord insertion (axial), upper limbs and lower limbs. For each view, 100 anonymised transabdominal ultrasound images, taken between 11+ 0‐14+ 0 weeks gestational age, and purposely selected to be of varying quality, were included. Four experienced reviewers evaluated the quality of each image as either acceptable or unacceptable based on their clinical practice, but were purposely not given objective scoring criteria. Inter‐and intra‐reviewer reliability of this subjective assessment was evaluated.ResultsAll 2,800 …
