Association of cholesterol efflux capacity with plasmalogen levels of high-density lipoprotein: A cross-sectional study in chronic kidney disease patients.

•Plasmalogen levels of blood were reduced in advanced chronic kidney disease.•Cholesterol efflux capacity of HDL was also reduced in advanced kidney disease.•Plasmalogen levels of HDL were associated with cholesterol efflux capacity.•Additional plasmalogens augmented cholesterol efflux ability of HDL.•Plasmalogens of HDL may be a determinant for accelerating cholesterol efflux.
