Abstract
This work refers formulation of transdermal drug delivery system containing extract from Rhodiola rosea . A polymer matrix controls the rate at which the drug contained in the patch reservoir can pass through the skin into bloodstream. Transdermal patches are useful in developing new applications for existing therapeutics and reducing first-pass effect. Qualitative properties, e.g., patch adhesion or dissolution of drug, are important by formulation of the system influencing the bioavailability. Based on tested parameters, the most promising formulations were matrix systems containing two different combinations: gelatine with chitosan or pectin with polyethylene oxide. These two selected matrix systems will be further evaluated to study the drug permeation. Graphical abstract
