摘要

•Field-caught phlebotomine sand flies were identified by MALDI-TOF MS.•The MALDI-TOF MS power is connected with the protein mass spectra database quality.•Protein mass spectra database for S. minuta and P. perniciosus were generated.•Findings confirmed MALDI-TOF MS usefulness for phlebotomine species identification.
