Effect of rifle firing position on upper body muscle activity in U.S. Marines during simulated 100-yard marksmanship tasks

Purpose: Muscular activity during rifle marksmanship has not been extensively explored. The effect of rifle design on muscle recruitment has been described, but little work has investigated differences due to firing position. Considering the importance of shooting performance for the rifleman, this topic merits further investigation. This study aims to compare upper body muscle activity in three firing positions during a marksmanship task.
