摘要
•The production of large gratings remains a challenging task because of unclear mechanism between ruling tool and grating film.•Considering the specific features and working mode of the chisel-edge grating ruling tool, a parameterized mechanical model with respect to the grating ruling direction is developed.•Proposed model provides an important theoretical basis for the design of a chisel-edge grating ruling tool.•Proposed model effectively solves scientific problems such as grating corrugated line and fluctuated grooves, and can avoid complex and time-consuming technical operations such as step-by-step modification of tool guide angle.•The model is very useful for practical application in the field of grating manufacture.
