Abstract
Plastic pancreatic stents (PPS) are used to facilitate pancreatic ductal (PD) drainage in several clinical settings. A multi-national prospective cohort study was conducted with patients (pts) stratified into various indications for pancreatic stenting. The present report provides study findings in pts stented to reduce risk of post ERCP pancreatitis (PEP) in high risk pts, termed “primary prophylaxis” (Group I), or to ensure short term drainage at completion of pancreatic endotherapy, termed “secondary prophylaxis” (Group II).
