Significant positive correlations between CPS-induced changes in TPSAB1 and CLDN2 (r= 0.706, p=0.002), and between TJP1 and TJP3 (r=0.838,p<0.001) were found.CONCLU-SION: Specific and independent gender-related molecular responses in closely co-regulated genes implicated in epithelial barrier regulation are unraveled by acute exposure to acute stress in the jejunum of healthy subjects.Our results may pave the way to understand female predominance in functional gastrointestinal disorders.
